New Ink

I've heard from many people that tattoos are addictive, but so far I've only succumbed twice. Mind you, the second one was a bit of a doozy, taking nearly six hours over two sessions to get all the detail work & colour in there. I've been considering another one a while now: since we lost our son Arrow in June 2009. Not long after that I was talking with someone about getting a memorial tattoo. She had gotten one soon after the death of her husband & has since had cover-up work done on it. Her advice was to wait a while.

Tattoo #3?
A year & a half later, I'm sure I still want the tattoo. I would like to get a simple, graphic arrow on the inside of my left forearm. However, it would be such a small, simple design that it almost wouldn't be worth the minimum charge for the work. Plus, in the meantime, I've had my lovely little Sprout. I think perhaps a second tattoo in his honour is in order. The obvious thing to get would be a little seedling: a sprout of some sort. Back to the drawing board.

My tattoo artist, Teresa, of Electro-Ladylux Tattoos is in such demand that she books appointments about a year in advance. Unless I manage to squeeze in somewhere on a cancellation, I'll have a while to think of the second tattoo design.

  1. I have a friend who has lost 2 babies (One in vitro and one several weeks after birth) and he had their footprints tattooed on his arm. For what it's worth, there is a happy ending - he and his wife survived both ordeals and now have a beautiful daughter!

I have been seriously looking at getting a simple tattoo done, maybe we'll have to arrange a group outing!
