URGENT: Send an Email of Support for Mount Pleasant Farmers Market TODAY

Send a quick note in support of Mount Pleasant Farmers Market!
Did you like the Mount Pleasant Farmers Market last summer? I loved having another market close to home & I would love to see it come back for another year. Vancouver Farmers Markets has applied to the City of Vancouver for permission to bring the market back to the neighbourhood. However, they need your written feedback to make sure it happens!

A few things they hope to add this year include:

  1. A full season: every Sunday from June 15 - October 12, 10am-2pm
  2. Food Scraps Drop Spot: residents of apartments/condos will be able to drop off their food scraps at the market (which will be composted off-site and turned back to soil!)
  3. Small 7x7 container: to store a couple tents and tables so we can set-up a proper Information Booth with market money and merchandise
  4. Live acoustic music: to brighten up the market with the sweet sounds of fiddles and guitars

In their experience, one negative comment trumps ten positive ones, so if you think any of the above items will be a benefit to the community, please say so! If you have concerns about them, they would love to hear from you before you submit your comments to the city. You can talk to Laura Smit, District Manager - East Side (laura@eatlocal.org) or Roberta LaQuaglia, Operations Manager (roberta@eatlocal.org). Office: 604-879-3276

The City is accepting written comments via email to claudia.hicks@vancouver.ca by April 7th. If you have time to submit a letter of support (even a short note), it would be most appreciated. If you do not have access to the web to make a comment, you can contact Claudia Hicks, Project Co-ordinator at 604-871-6083.

Thank you for your continued support!
