A Holiday Tradition: The 5th Annual Vancouver Christmas Market

'Tis the season again: the Queen Elizabeth Theatre Plaza has been transformed into a little slice of Europe. The Vancouver Christmas Market is open for its fifth year, featuring over 50 unique vendors, a variety of holiday-themed activities and Vancouver’s only Christmas Carousel.

It's not just about the shopping at the market--there are lots of food & drink vendors too. Try a spiral potato or some Spatzle. Wrap your chilly fingers around a hot mug of Glühwein (mulled wine) or my favourite: the slightly higher-test version with rum--Feuerzangenbowle--as you walk around & enjoy the old world charm of the market. Don't miss a spin on Christmas Carousel while you listen to live musical performances. Get your photos taken with Holly & Jolly, the market's real live gingerbread people.

2014 Vancouver Christmas Market is located in the Queen Elizabeth Theatre Plaza, 650 Hamilton Street, & it's open until December 24th, 11am to 9pm daily; (only til 6pm on December 24th). Admission for adults (13+) is $7 – Mon-Fri 4pm-9pm & Weekends 11am-9pm. If you come weekdays before 4pm, it's just $4. Seniors (60+) get $1 off regular admission, youth (7-12) are $3, while children 0-6 are FREE. Carousel Rides cost $3 per ticket; $10 per package of 5 tickets.

Don't forget, for the price of any paid admission, visitors will be given a FREE Season’s Pass so that they can enjoy the Vancouver Christmas Market as often as they like over the course of the 33-day event. Also, those who come from 11 am to 2pm on weekdays can beat the crowds and enjoy 2-for-1 lunch admission, making the Market the perfect place to grab a meal with friends.
