Vancouver Mini Maker Faire Ticket Giveaway

Pedal Powered Percussion at Vancouver Mini Maker Faire 2014
One of my favourite events is coming up in a month: the Vancouver Mini Maker Faire, at the PNE Forum June 6-7. Last year we went for the first time & really enjoyed it. Linnaeus got to make a button himself, We saw all kinds of weird & wonderful machines, art projects, vehicles, toys, & things that defy description. There was also a bit of a show & shine there, where we got to try out several e-assist cargo bikes in the parking lot outside.

If you're not familiar with it, the VMMF is a collaborative & community-driven celebration of do-it-yourselfing. It was founded in 2011 by makers like the people at Vancouver Hack Space (VHS), who had a strong desire to share ideas, learn from others, & celebrate the act of making. The Mini part of the name does not necessarily mean small--it’s simply the term used to differentiate it from the World Maker Faires that involve Makers from a wide geographical area--VMMF is all about the local.

When you attend Maker faires you meet tech enthusiasts, crafters, homesteaders, scientists, & garage tinkerers of all ages & backgrounds. The maker community is expanding, diverse, & inclusive. VMMF welcomes a broad range of ideas & projects – everything from collaborative & fun on-site activities like cardboard box making, to feats of engineering, robotics & crafting. It’s a great event to bring kids to, all about experimenting, playing & sharing in order to have fun, learn, & discover new possibilities.

This year's Vancouver Mini Maker Faire promises to be even better than last year with a Cardboard City, the Lego Lounge, a Textile Village & expanded Dark Matter Zone. You'll also see robotic dogs, homegrown drones, hand-sewn quilts, a spin art t-shirt making bike, & interactive art installations at the 5th annual Vancouver Mini Maker Faire this June 6th & 7th.

Now that you are all excited about going to Vancouver Mini Maker Faire, here's your chance to win a family pack of tickets ($47 value)! So up to five people, maximum of two 19+, can go to VMMF for free! You've got a few ways to enter in the Rafflecopter form below--do as many as possible for the best chance to win. 1. A mess? hehe, kidding, but I have some furniture that I have been re-purposing lately. I made a neat little 'wardrobe' for DD out of a bookshelf.

  3. I learned a new pattern for knitting this year. I taught myself to knit last year and handmade scarves for most everyone for Christmas.

  8. I finished a lovely doll quilt for a 3 yo bday present a few weeks ago. I'm glad I saw your post on FAB. We actually will be home that weekend and will definitely be taking the girls. A friend blogged about it last year and I was a little jealous that there is nothing like that where we live now. Oh how I miss the big city.
