Quotable Bits

"Making the decision to have a child is momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body."
--Elizabeth Stone
There goes my heart, running after a goose at VanDusen.

(I think she's the same one this Wikipedia entry talks about)

When I was still living at home, I couldn't understand why my mother couldn't fall asleep until I got home. As a teenager, there was no chance of sneaking home past my curfew: she would know when I came in.

Now that I have a child--though we're still far from the curfew stage--I can understand why she couldn't fall asleep.

  1. I love that quote. It is so, so true and I know what you mean. I can never sleep when my kids are having sleep over's at their friends houses. I'm not looking forward to the curfew years.

  2. Lovely quote, and such an adorable picture! It's going to be scary when my little ones are old enough to go out on their own, I can barely handle it if they're more than a few steps ahead of me! Thanks for joining in on my little quote linky :)

  3. Love this quote.
So true, when you become a mother, it gives you a better perspective on some of the things our own mothers did.

  4. I so love that quote. it sums up everything about a mother's heart. All I can hope for is that my 3 take after their goodie-2-shoes father. my bedroom window was beside and very handy and easily climbed tree. nuff said.
and even though my eldest is only 7, I have already had hubby cut down one tree to close to our house. not taking any chances!

  5. Your quote reminded me of this quote (one of my all time favorites)- I thought I would share it with you: "I hear your footsteps down the hall, you are home again, and safe. The burdens of the day are lightened and all the night noises...are music to my ears." ~ D. Morgan.
