gDiapers Review + Giveaway

We use cloth diapers for Sprout & have since he was two days old. However, we have also needed to use alternatives when he had a rash or thrush. The first trip we took with him, we used disposables as well. I've always been uncomfortable using disposable diapers: one of the reasons we use cloth is because disposables are not eco-friendly at all. They take generations to break down in the environment & when bundled up tight in plastic then buried in a landfill, as they usually are, they can take centuries to degrade. For this reason, once we got through the OMG-we-have-a-baby phase as new parents, we chose gDiapers as our 'backup diapers'.

If you haven't heard of gDiapers, they're a hybrid diaper with a cloth cover that has a removable waterproof pouch inside. This pouch holds a disposable absorbent insert (a gRefill). The part that makes them a green alternative is that the gRefill is biodegradable, compostable & flushable. Yes, you can throw gRefills in your trash, you can put them in your household or municipal compost bin (though I would only recommend doing that with wet diapers) or you can flush them down your toilet & they won't outlive you & your grandchildren.

The outer cover, called little gPants, comes in a variety of prints, all of which are very cute. gPants are made of soft, stretchy cotton with sturdy velcro closures that go around the back; a good design that makes them harder for older babies to pull off. gRefills are unscented with no dyes either--ideal for sensitive bums. I find gDiapers to be very absorbent & great when wet--to change, you can usually just put in a new gRefill, unlike with our cloth pocket diapers, where you have to wash the cover too. With 'solid waste', it tends to get on the inner pouch, which means you have to scrub it off. gDiapers are good at containment, however--we've had no poo leaks onto the cloth gPants.

Gallant Stripe gPants
About double the cost of disposables, plus the cost of the gPants, gDiapers aren't cheap. We use them at night time a few times a week or when travelling. However, if you're committed to a greener choice & have to use a coin-op machine to do laundry, gDiapers might come out ahead of cloth diapers. gDiapers also have washable cloth inserts available--an easy way to try out cloth diapering.

Now that I've given you the low-down on gDiapers, here's your chance to try them out for free! You could win: a medium Gallant stripe & a medium Good Fortune red little gPant, a pack of gRefills and a pack of gWipes. (Medium size is for babies about 13-28lbs)

You can get multiple entries for following me & gDiapers on Twitter & Facebook, as well as tweeting about the giveaway (daily if you like). The more of those that you do, the higher chance you have of winning. :) Just make sure to do the action (tweet, comment, etc) AND tell Rafflecopter that you did it in the form below so your entry will be counted! If you have any questions at all or something isn't working for you, please email me (lisa.corriveau AT gmail.com) & I'll help sort it out. :)

The winner will be chosen by random number generator & notified by email. S/he will have 48 hours to reply, or another winner will be chosen.

Good luck!
