TOP 10 WAYS TO SPEND 30 MINUTES

Hello everyone! My apologies for being a bit scarce around here the last few weeks. As you might have figured out from my last Wordless Wednesday post, I have a good excuse, besides being in school & then practicum full-time. But my practicum is finished & I suddenly have a lot more time on my hands (until I find full-time work, that is) so I thought I'd jump back into Listicling again.

This week's topic is an interesting one: Top 10 Ways to Spend 30 Minutes. Here are mine:
  1. Drinking craft beer. Sadly, I haven't been doing much of this for, oh, about four months & probably won't for another four or so.
  2. Eating dessert. Gimme cheesecake, chocolate cake, apple pie, creme brulee, bread pudding, mousse, brownies, nearly anything that's sweet & I'll enjoy that 30 minutes.
  3. Having a bath or shower. One where I get to wash my hair, condition it, have a nice exfoliating scrub AND shave my legs, rather than having to pick just one of the former because I have to rush off somewhere. Or having to pick just one of the former accompanied by a two-year-old.
  4. Sleeping. Though I could usually use a *wee* bit more than 30 minutes extra these days, I'll take what I can get.
  5. Riding a bike. Anytime, anywhere, it's my favourite way to get around.
  6. Poking around a museum or art gallery. Better yet: on a guided tour.
  7. Sewing something. I love spending thirty minutes at my sewing machine & coming away with a finished product. I can't make anything too complex in that time, but still.
  8. Making & eating a batch of this popcorn. Yes, it's got Nutella on it. Yes, it's INCREDIBLE & you must try making it NOW.
  9. Having a cup of good tea. I have sadly had to quit drinking black & green tea because of the caffeine, but I still love me a good cup of rooibos, dandelion root, lemon zinger, or pretty much anything herbal.
  10. Watching Sprout play. He's gotten much more into imaginative play lately, telling odd stories & pretending a lot. It's pretty entertaining.
Interesting to note how many of these involve me eating or drinking something... Guess that tells you where my priorities lie these days. So, tell me: what's your favourite way to spend 30 minutes?

  1. Hey, food and drink are awesome. I love when I get to spend more than two minutes enjoying a meal. I feel like I have been conditioned to scarf down food since one of my children are usually going to demand milk, want more, whine ... you get the point. :)

    1. I can't wait until it's just demanding milk or wanting more! At the moment, most meals seem to get interrupted by spilling food or drink, banging cutlery on the glass table or a diaper change. Ah, toddlers. Thanks for stopping by!

  2. Imaginative play is one of the most amazing things. He'll just get more and more into it. 30 minutes walking in the blossoms would be my #1 right now ;-O

    1. Ooh, yes, the blossoms! I'd forget about them were it not for your Instagram feed. ;) We don't have cherry trees on 16th near here--they're some other odd deciduous thing that goes from yellow to green to dark red through the season. Barely a bud on them at the moment, too.

Hopefully I'll have time to get together with you & T for a playdate. Sprout's also really gotten into playing with other kids--he's mostly past the 'parallel play' stage, I guess. :)

  3. You can come away with a finished product in 30 minutes!!! WOW! I can barely sew one straight seam in that amount of time. Haahaa! Food and drink items work for me too.

    1. Well, nothing too impressive--a simple drawstring bag or a set of serged washcloths, maybe a baby bib. :) Thanks for swinging by!

  4. I love watching my boy play too. Actually I love listening to him when he is a bit out of my sight even more. I feel his imagination really comes out then, I must make that popcorn! NOW!!

    1. You're totally right--it's great when they don't know or forget you're listening. :) The popcorn is amaaaazing. Definitely try it!

  7. #3 - have to laugh: hubby and I actually had an event to attend without children where we had to wear our "fancy clothes" which for me also meant hair wash and condition, full shave, make up AND hair. Since hubby is used to my 8 minute routine, the over 40 minutes that all took was quite the shocker. LOL

Imagine if I had done my nails!

    1. Other than intermittent filing & cleaning, I think the last time I did my nails was last summer...

  8. Today I am sure my 30 minutes would be spent with my hands in the dirt and sun warming the back of my neck. I am so ready to plant and for spring to stick around instead of showing up every couple of days!

    1. Yes, spring/late winter alternation sucks! Fingers crossed you'll get some gardening in soon!

  9. Congratulations on the news…you’ll be getting that craft beer before you know it! I could enjoy all those desserts for 30, 60, or even 90 minutes (if eaten slowly enough)!

    1. Thanks! Yes, this pregnancy is zipping by. With school, work & a toddler, I have no time to obsess over it like I did last pregnancy. :)

Wow, 90 minutes--I can never make dessert last anywhere near that long.

  10. Great list.... I would love to spend 30 minutes eating anything! As long as there were no consequences!

    1. YES--no consequences! Though being pregnant & pretty active means less consequences, I'd love to just ignore the guilt over eating junk food for a half hour... LOL

  11. Great list.

I am so with you on the dessert, but why oh WHY did you have to show me that Nutella popcorn????

    Happy belated Monday Listicles!

  12. Ohhh great list and so insightful. I too love craft beer and i have only given it up for a week in hopes that I have to give it up for another 8 months or so.
Number 3 couldn't be more dead on! Love it!
Also I drink green tea but the decaffeinated version....just fyi if you want to try it out and I WILL be trying that popcorn but I'll have to sneak it, my little one is allergic to dairy so to ease her pain I gave it up too. What was I thinking! I could substitute with melted dairy free chocolate and hazelnut sauce right??? weekend project!
