Spokesmama Shopping Guide: Christine Silk Lingerie

A rainbow of silk tank tops at the Christine Pop-up Shop
With only nine more days to go until Christmas, here is is a gift idea for the last-minute shoppers out there. If you're still looking for something for your mama, your spouse, your sister, your best friend, I've got a suggestion for you:

Christine Lingerie.

This local silk lingerie company makes beautiful pieces that any woman would feel sexy in. My favourite items are the robes. Made of silk charmeuse, they are available in a multitude of colours with or without French lace accents. You can also find several attractive prints, including feathers, Japanese-inspired scenes, & even leopard spots. Pro-tip for the guys: if you're not quite sure what size your giftee is, a robe is a good bet.

Christine Lingerie also makes gorgeous chemises, nightgowns, teddies, pyjamas, & even some tanks & blouses, all of high quality silks & laces.

Beside the fact that Christine Lingerie is made of high quality materials that feel luxurious against the skin, where they're made is notable. Christine proudly keeps the entire operation--from the design to the he production of all the pieces in the collection--in Vancouver: nothing is offshored. As I'm sure you know, this is quite unique in the fashion industry.

Seamstress Deng & Production Manager Alina at Christine's.
First, each garment is designed, a pattern drafted & then a sample sewn at the studio on Powell Street in Vancouver. Once it's been adjusted & tweaked to perfection, then the beautiful silks & laces go to the seamstresses who work from home to sew each gorgeous garment. At a 40th  anniversary party for the company, I got to speak with Deng, one of the women who's been sewing for Christine for over two decades. With her long years of experience in sewing, she crafts the slippery, liquid silk fabrics into slips, robes & other garments as well as helping with production when they get busy. Deng, who came to Canada from Vietnam in 1978, loves being part of the design process & appreciates the medical benefits that go along with her job.

Christine Lingerie is available on the Christine Lingerie website or at the West Vancouver pop-up store, just for the months of November & December to celebrate Christine's 40th Anniversary, open Monday to Saturday 10am to 6pm at 1445 Bellevue Avenue.
