Vancouver International Children's Festival Family Activity Pass Giveaway

Making some noise at Kidsfest 2012
It's nearly that time again: when the weather turns fair (or at least only rains half the time) & some of the most talented children's performers in the world congregate at Granville Island for the Vancouver International Children's Festival. The 36th annual festival takes place May 27 - June 2, 2013, on Granville Island. Kidsfest 2013 promises to be better than ever with new activities & a stunning lineup of international & local performers.

But enough preamble, right? Let's get on with the details of the giveaway. I have a family pack of four Vancouver International Children's Festival wristbands to give away to you. These wristbands will allow access to the festival & all the creative activities there:
  • Facepainting
  • Making Music with Found Objects
  • African Dance & Music
  • Shadow Puppetry
  • Circus Skills
  • Bicycle Spin-Art
  • A Kaleidoscopic Outdoor Weaving Experience
  • Origami
  • Magical Mystery Maze
  • Sock Puppet making
  • Twist & Toddle baby & toddler play zone (this was Sprout's fave last year)
(Just to be clear--the wristbands do not include admission to performances inside the venues) The four pack of wristbands is worth $32 total.

To enter, you have many options: the more you do, the better your chances! You can tweet about the contest, follow me & Kidsfest on Twitter & Facebook--the only required one is to leave a blog comment below about why you want to go to Kidsfest this year. Please remember that it's two steps for each action on Rafflecopter--follow/tweet/post then say you did it--to count as a valid entry. Let me know if you have any technical difficulties.

I'll randomly choose a winner on Friday morning--contest closes at 11:59pm Thursday, May 9th. I'll post the winner on the blog & notify them by the email given to Rafflecopter. The winner must contact me within 48 hours to claim their prize. Good luck!

Disclaimer: I will be receiving the same wristbands for my family to attend the festival. The words & opinions above are my own, however.

  1. I haven't been since I've had my own kids! They're just at ages now where they'll really love it.

    1. It really is such a great festival--so much fun to go to something that doesn't just have a kids' corner, but it designed entirely for them. :)

    1. Five would be great! However, we really enjoyed it last year & Sprout wasn't even two yet--there are still quite a few things to do with kids who are under five too! He liked the shadow puppets, Twist & Toddle, the noisemaker area, not to mention the giant mouse (rat?) mascot that was there. Gave it three big hugs before we could get him away. :)

  7. It's my first year having a kid! He's still pretty little, but he'll most likely have figured out his walking by the end of the month (he's SO close) and he'd love to look at everything. I don't think one is two young...

    1. The performances are geared toward older kids, but there are still a few things that might interest him. You should go with Taylor & Savannah--they'd love it!

    1. I found it really incredible to be at a festival that is ENTIRELY devoted to children. It's not like the kids tent/afterthought in the corner at so many other festivals, the entire thing is really well planned & programmed so that children from just a few months old up to the end of elementary school will LOVE it.

  10. I have lived in Vancouver my whole life and have never been! My little guy loves music, so it would be awesome to go.

  11. I am keen to introduce my almost 4 year old son (and 2 year old daughter) to as much positive activity as I can find. He comes home from daycare with Star Wars and Angry Birds knocking and shooting actions. So on all the non-daycare days, I am looking for the more happy activities like this. I have never been before, but anticipate some great times.

    1. Yup, I can guarantee you this will be an Angry-Birds-free experience! It's a really great event--especially for a four-year-old--but your daughter will still find some fun things to do too. :)

  12. I want to go because it was fantastic last year, even in the pouring rain. With the weather we've been having lately (*fingers crossed*), it'll be even better!

    1. We managed to get sun both days that we went last year, but it always rains at least some of the time it seems... Most of the activities are under tents though, so it's still doable even in a downpour. & if you spring for the extra show tickets, the venues are mainly theatres & buildings, so they're totally dry inside. :)

  13. I've never been and it sounds like a great day out as a family. Although my girl's still a bit young for all the events, I have no doubt that she'd love it. I anticipate chasing her around a fair bit. :)
